NEW YORK - Fox News Channel has sued liberal humorist Al Franken and the Penguin Group to stop them from using the phrase "fair and balanced" in the title of his upcoming book.



Filed Monday in Manhattan, the trademark infringement lawsuit seeks a court order forcing a Penguin publisher, Dutton books, to rename the book, "Lies and the Lying Liars Who Tell Them: A Fair and Balanced Look at the Right." It also asks for unspecified damages.

2. It just kills me...

that most of the RW people I know describe "libruls" as the kinds of people who:

a) leech of public assistance

b) sue (whine) about every injustice they perceive (the ACLU being described as "Crybaby Ground Zero" by one person I know)


So....

How come most RW corporations are on corporate welfare, and these same corporations go running to the courts crying slander and libel ever time they begin to show chinks in their armor?!

5. Conservatives And Liberals...

Conservatives and liberals are not that structurally different...we just emphasize different things. Conservatives like big government just like liberals do; conservatives just think that big government should be the military industrial complex and corporate welfare while liberals think big government should be national health care and education.

Conservatives like to use the courts to change things that they can't accomplish through legislation, just like liberals do; conservatives just use the courts to repress women, protect their corporate sponsors, and push their God-bothering ways on society while liberals use the courts to protect minorities, protect the poor, and keep God out of public life.

Conservatives want government interfering in their personal lives just like liberals want government interfering in their personal lives; conservatives think that it is O.K. to legislate individual morality, tell a woman what she cannot do with her body, and to have government spy on your every move and conversation while liberals feel government should protect individual civil rights from the government and keep the government out of setting individual reproductive policy.

We aren't terribly structurally different in these core areas; we just value different things that make it seem far more different.

So now that my stereotyping quota for the day has been fulfilled, I can move on with the rest of my schedule!
