Me - it's locking the door when I know I'm traveling overnight and getting to the airport on time.

I'm ok during work hours, I've left my door wide open for 10 hours and no one came in and stole a thing (and the widescreen TV & Computer were right there by the front door). But when I travel, I get really paranoid that the front door is not locked almost to the point that I will turn around and go back just to confirm I locked the door (Farthest I got away was an hour and I had to go home and check and no, I can't call a neighbor to confirm it - it has to be me). I use to be like that with the iron but two things solved that problem. When I did iron I would just bring the iron with me and leave it in the trunk of my car, but since I rarely iron anymore it's not an issue.

Second thing is getting to the airport in time. I like to leave with plenty of time and when someone procrastinates, especially if I have no control of the situation, I can get really annoying and buggy. Seriously, if I'm visiting you and I had to fly to get there, it's better to get me there 2 hours early then to listen to me annoy the bejesus out of you.

1. If I see a stack of records for sale anywhere
I stop immediately. Lawn sale, thrift store, etc. Doesn't matter.

8. I'm pretty selective
But if it's old and contains any type of horn based music (Latin, Soul, Jazz, Ska, Reggae, etc) I have to have it. I have over 300 records or so. Some people light up when they see it until they go through it and stare at me like, uh, what the fuck is this?

5. I wash my hands a lot - not quite to OCD level, but close
I blame years of working in the food industry.

I also get annoyed if someone leaves the toilet lid up (not just the seat, the whole thing).

And I tend to double check to see if I closed/locked the door, to see if my wallet and keys are in my pocket, etc.

I'm mildly OCD about those, but for good reason: I've lost shit before, so checking cuts way down on those losses.

6. My bank accounts.
I do an online check of my bank accounts several times a day. I have no idea what I'm looking for, though. :)

9. I know what I'm looking for when I do that,
and that's some mysterious person to start putting money into it.

7. Shutting the house down for the evening.
I start in the doggie rumpus room. Do a head count and water bowl check. I check both doors to ensure they're locked. I make sure the washer and dryer are both off. I double check the metal gate to the rest of the house on my way out. Then I check the kitchen, making sure the stove is off. I go through the whole house like this, ending with me closing my bedroom door behind me and my two pups that sleep in there.

I'm really obsessed with locking the place down tight and making sure everything is off. That's probably more a good thing than a bad thing.

12. You'd get along great with me.
Shutting down the house for the night (or day most of the time with me) would be another of my OCD features.

10. We could travel together.
I'm definitely OCD about locking up the house (also shutting off appliances) and getting to the airport with time to spare.

I solved the iron issue by buying one with an automatic shutoff but like you I don't iron that much these days so it's not a preflight problem anymore.

11. For me, it's checking to make sure my computer is unplugged before storms.
We have lots of storms here. Quite a few of them can be quite severe too. I was ON THE COMPUTER (this computer) when it was the recipient of a fireball. A pine tree across the road got hit. The lightning jumped from the tree to the telephone pole about 6 feet from the tree, came all the way over here and zapped my sound card, my phone modem, my mouse, and me. A fireball shot through the room.

I want to be DAMN SURE my computer is unplugged before a storm. So, I unplug it then double check it a zillion times. :scared:

13. Items on a table cannot be touching each other
This has only just recently started to bug me. On my desk at work, I have to make sure the Rolodex isn't touching the tape dispenser, etc. At home, I can't have two books touching each other, unless one is on top of the other.

equipment is turned off.

15. Re-reading what I've written.
I edit and re-edit and re-edit.

I often read and re-read emails that I've sent or letters I'm about to mail.

Weird.

17. All the bills in my wallet have to be right side up facing the same way and...
..in increasing order of denomination. 1s, 5s, 10, etc...

I think I started this because I used to have to work a register, and it would cut down on mistakes.

At least it's a useful obsession. I can tell how much $ I have faster than if everything was out of order or upside down.

18. making sure my doors are locked at night
i usually keep them locked during the day, even if i'm at home, but i'm buggy about it when i'm getting ready for bed. my fiance and roommate don't always lock the door behind them when they have a cigarette and, even though my fiance will tell me he did it, i'll usually get up just to check.

it's not that i'm worried that someone is going to just waltz into my house and night and start rummaging through my stuff, but i can't sleep if i'm not positive that the doors are locked.
