Gluten Free beer question?
I have a brother that is Celiac- I haven gotten Bard Tale, Red Bridge and Green's for our annual fishing trip are there any other kinds people have tried that are good?
He doesn't have problems with Guinness but it isn't exactly his cuppa:beer:

1. I wish I could advise you, but I didn't know that beer contains gluten.
:dunce:

I'm sure your brother will be pleased that you have thought so much for his enjoyment and well-being.

2. ewwwww...
I feel bad that this is an issue and it's a shame he can't drink Guiness. That has to be rough but perhaps their are other types of alcohol that he can drink. Does he have the same problem with wine? You could get a 4-pack of wine for the trip. I know it seems a bit 'fussy' for a fishing trip but if it's something he can drink safely then bring it.

3. if he drinks "regular beer"

he has major stomach problems for weeks or even months. I have three kinds of gluten free that will work just wondering if anyone else had any more options for him.

4. I had a sorghum beer recently (in Michigan) that wasn't bad
I think it might have been Red Bridge. It had the name red in it.

5. Greene's is good stuff
I don't normally like beer (wheat sensitive but not celiac) but Greene's is tasty.

You could also try cider. I drink cider a lot when I want something similar to beer. It's not as heavy as wine. Plus you can get apple cider and pear cider. Yum!

6. Think Michelobe is made from rice, not wheat if that helps. Might
want to research for 100% definitive answer.....Hope that helps.

7. So is regular bud but it has gluten
Edited on Thu Jun-04-09 02:48 PM by Rambis
I love the fact americans are driking a rice beer not owned by an american company! But i digress-

Red bridge is the bud gluten free product and it does not-

8. Sapporo from Japan may be an option too. It's cool that Bud makes a gluten
free version.
