What heinous fuckery...
Joe Mauer got hit on his hand by a pitch, but the umpire is saying it was a foul ball. Gardenhire came really close to getting ejected.

Now Ken Macha is arguing with the ump.

:wtf:

1. Doesn't baseball have instant replay now? Can they use it at times like these?

2. Not for calls at the plate
only to determine if a batted ball is a home run or not.

6. The hand is considered part of the bat. Hence it is a foul ball.

7. Wait. The hand is part of the bat, so it's a foul ball, yet if a ball
barely touches a batter's uniform, the ump considers him to be a hit batter and he gets to take first base?

8. That's only if they're actively swinging the bat, though right?
No idea if the hit batsmen was swinging at the pitch or not in this situation.

10. If they are not swinging, then the hands are typically behind the body of the batter.
Also, even if the batter has not swung, and the ball hits the bat, then it is either in play or it is a foul ball.
