directions to the batchelor party
take US 90 (from the east or west), snake up LA 27 northbound for about 10 miles, take a right just before the calcasieu/jeff davis parish line (watch out for the state trooper that hides near the live oaks) and go about 4 miles to cousin jimmy's house.

there'll be plenty of beer, shootin, and redneck chicks.

don't bring any yankee 'tude though, them boys can smell that a mile away, and you'll probably git yer ass kicked and there's nothin i can do about it.

2. I was listening to a couple of southern truckers talking on the CB one time
Edited on Wed May-20-09 09:53 AM by Droopy
Generally, they were talking about how much better everything is in the south. From cattle, to trucking companies, to women, to food. At one point in the conversation one of them was talking about a guy he knew who was from Wisconsin. He said he seemed like a nice enough fella, but that danged accent just made him sound lazy. He couldn't help but think of yankees as lazy when he heard them speak.

3. whenever i'd pull into chicago, st. louis, or any big city, they'd start transmitting like crazy
the almost unanimous impression was that any city was essentially a shithole overrun with 4 wheelers who can't drive worth a shit.

and woe betide some n00b trying to get directions (and have a southern accent). he'd get a chorus of "get a fuckin map" before a good ol boy would try to help him out.

what bothers me the most is the driving school truckers who think cb chatter is an intrusion on their xm and just say rude shit.

it's always nice to hear old timers get on the air though.

4. lol
That's it in a nutshell. About the only time you hear a good conversation on the CB now is late at night or when you are out in the middle of nowhere and there a just a few trucks around. Then everyone seems to get along. Usually. But get a bunch of them together and it's just chaos. I don't even use a CB anymore. I run a dedicated route on nights and I have cell phones. I'd have one, though, if I was going to be an over-the-road driver again.
