IMO the greatest rock 'n' roll band of the late 1970s.
Why?
Wake Up and Make Love With Me Sex and Drugs and Rock and Roll Hit Me With Your Rhythm Stick Dance of the Screamers Reasons To Be Cheerful (Part 3) A shitload of other album cuts
Everything from the most sublime of stripjoint bump-and-grinds to raging rock and roll to whimsical silliness, all done with an effortless virtuosity. Having Norman Watt-Roy on bass and the late, lamented Charley Charles on drums (you heard those two on all of Frankie Goes To Hollywood's records no matter what the credits say) didn't hurt.
Ian Dury was the witty, cynical and ultimately romantic visionary of Cockney poetry.
Beautifully recorded, at least as heard on my original Stiff Records LPs.
Y' out there, Pierre? If not, you gotta hear this Chez ChimpH8R.
