Do you buy clothing online?
I've bought shoes for my daughter, after she'd tried on another pair by the same maker... she just wanted a different color combination.

I have the hardest time buying clothes even when I can go try them on, so buying clothes online just seems like asking for trouble. But I've found some great deals... very tempting.

So have you tried it? How did it work out for you? Would you do it again?

1. Yep alot.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE Coldwater Creek. And I'm pretty familiar with their stuff (there is a real store nearby as well)..so generally I know what is going to fit me well and generally what I size I wear.

3. One of my coworkers said the exact same thing.
She also loves Coldwater Creek and says once you find what fits it's the best thing ever.

I guess trial and error is the way to go.

17. VS and FH have great sales from time to time.
I get some great deals on their bras and panties, as long as I'm paying attention to the email ads I get.

I go to Kohls for the jeans, Fashion Bug for various things, and Newport News for leggings, shoes, and bikinis/one-pieces.

5. I loathe shopping for clothes in stores.
Hours of searching and only the faintest hope that whatever nice thing I find might be in stock in my size.

I think I'm about to give this a shot. :)

Then again, the thing I want is "one size fits most" so I'm still pretty much being a coward. :P

15. l have bought online from Newport News.
They have some great styles. And I am lucky to have a Kohl's and Fashion Bug practically around the corner. Kohl's is my favorite though.

6. I live in the middle of nowhere
It's online or the local Walmart.

There are several online shoe places that have free shipping for returns or exchanges. I've bought sport shoes for my daughters that way.

I got Josef Seibel shoes off ebay for 9$.
Got 8 pairs of pants 5 with tags on ebay fit perfectly and they even through in a free pair with the order-
I got this shirt too:)

21. I think the trick is
to find a store you like and whose clothes fit you consistently, then you are fine.

LLBean has an unconditional return policy, which I love. Very good quality clothes and a great variety in petite, which is an issue for me, being such a shrimp.

12. Not often, I mostly thrift shop for clothing, but I'll order things I can't get locally.
Clothing items I've bought online, all new:

-2 pair of shoes from No Sweat
-Rabbit with Big Pointy Teeth slippers via ebay
-Fredericks of Hollywood corset and garter set via ebay
-various T-shirts for myself, LK, flvegan
-baseball jersey for idiot6

That's about it.

14. It was a fantastic deal on ebay
I could have bought two or three for what one would run in the store. The ebay seller I used had tons of their stuff for sale, so either they live by an outlet or they have access to the prior season stuff that gets discarded or something.

LL Bean, Lands End, and Orvis are my faves. They all make it really easy to return things, especially LE, you can return that to Sears and save on postage.

I probably buy more online than I do in the store.

18. I have...
I bought a pair of sneakers recently and saved about $30. I tried on the same pair at a store before I bought them to ensure a good fit.

I mainly buy sportswear online, quite a few things from Adidas, Nike, etc...so I know my basic size for those brands without needing to try it on first. I don't think I would buy business or formal attire online just because women's clothing is crazy with sizing in general

19. yes, almost all the time
now I don't even have to leave home to binge shop. I have some regular always reliable suppliers for casual clothes and for narrow shoes I always go the formidable zappo's and there are a few discount outlets that I browse regularly. Look for a good return policy (LL Bean and zappo's are FREE for example and LL Bean gives free delivery plus coupons if you have their credit card).

I thought clothes would be the last thing I'd buy online but they are very high on the list. Linens and kitchen and home stuff I still prowl for, and dressy clothes. I just love to shop and the option of doing it at home late at night I embrace wholeheartedly. It is fun.

22. Pretty frequently
I spent quite a few bucks at North Style just yesterday. I get aggravated going to the mall and not finding anything, but even though I try to be frugal when it comes to clothes, if something nice catches my eye in a catalog and I really REALLY want it, I hit the store's Web site right away. Online "closeout" or "outlet" sections are handy.

I wouldn't buy shoes online without trying them on IRL first, like your daughter did--shoe sizes vary too much for me.

28. Some things
Once the Macy's monopoly bought out the last local department store (then jacked up all the prices) I've bought button-down shirts online. If I wait until the middle of summer, I can get good deals on short sleeve shirts.

After not having any luck with store jeans, I tried LL Bean. They fit comfortably. So I wait for their holiday free shipping offer around xmas.

29. I bought socks online once.
Other than that, I haven't and I don't think I would, unless it was just something like a t-shirt. I guess it depends on how easily stuff fits you - me, I can never find pants that fit in stores, so I'd never try online. (I think my hips are too wide for most "young" styles or something?)

30. I have tried but spent too much money on postage. It gets very
discouraging when you wait for something to come and it doesn't fit. I prefer to hit the sales whenever I need something. One store's size 10 is not the same as the next store's size 10.

Better yet,I hit the yard sales and thrifts whenever can. If it is repairable, washable, fixable, dry cleanable or can be made right, i'd rather save the money, get "whatever" gently used and spend my dollars on something else. It is my old yankee upbringing showing through. I also buy furniture and non-clothing items the same way. I am patient, everything shows up that I need sooner or later.

Besides, an added benefit for thrift and YS clothing, If it is going to shrink, someone else gas already washed it. When you try something in the fitting room, you will know if it is right. Have you ever bought jeans new, washed and dried them only to find that they are now an inch or more shorter?

31. Yes, all of it. And it all comes from three places:
Edited on Thu May-07-09 08:01 PM by Mike 03
Kenneth Cole
J. Crew
Territory Ahead

Some minor purchases from:

Oakley
REI

A few companies in Europe.

In this entire time I have had only two screw ups only one of which involved clothing (the first one involved books), I swear to god:

One mix up with Amazon.com over a book about Winona Ryder almost ten years ago.
A mix up with J. Crew this week that they resolved so quickly and so graciously that it only gave me a higher opinion of them. They not only "made it right," but they made it right overnight, at a huge cost to themselves.

I think buying clothes online is safe.

34. Yes. I loath shopping......
so being able to buy stuff for work from home works for me. However, you must resign yourself to the reality of returns and the postage involved. But the prices seem cheaper online, so that and the time you save makes up for return postage I think.

38. No, I prefer thrift stores.
My husband buys shoes online because he wears an oddball size that is difficult to find in retail stores. He prefers The Sportsman's Guide. He also has bought some clothing online i.e. insulated jeans and work clothes. The only clothing I bought online was nursing tops when my children were babies.
