I just found justification for an Oxford comma in a Monty Python bit
"Amongst our weaponry are such diverse elements as fear, surprise, ruthless efficiency, an almost faNATical devotion to the Pope, and nice red uniforms... damn!"

7. Hardly.
Commas are more important than spelling. Spelling is just a beauty pagent. Punctuation is the essence of written communication.

8. The Oxford comma is a necessity.
Anyone who doesn't use it deserves to be punished severely.

9. I just have to point out how perfectly you the OP is.
It neatly integrates both a Python reference and linguistic pedantry. For your next trick, you should add something about baseball or classic cars.

10. Now that you mention it
using an Oxford comma is kinda like belting one into Triples Alley and burnin' a '65 GTO around the bases, but holding up at third while the base coach waves you home.

Yeah. I'm good. :D

but this is how I read it in my head:

That that is, is. That that is not, is not. Is it, not it is.

Yes? No?

13. Works for me
Monty Python: the final word in...well...everything.

And anybody who insists that it's redundant to have a comma and an "and" between the last two items in a series shall feel my wrath!

...Okay, I've gotta go find my wrath, but when I do, boy are you gonna get it!
