Dutch thread
I love the Dutch so much I even married one. Plus, if given half a chance you better believe I'd move to Holland. But I'm afraid that it won't happen after all.

3. Dutch doesn't have the G sound as in "go".
All G's are pronounced like the Spanish J (a very hard H). Weird!

5. I'm married to a Dutchman too!
I just got back from a business trip to Amsterdam. What a lot of fun! I don't know if I could live there, though -- it's AWFULLY crowded. I think Dutchmen make great husbands. There's a saying my mother-in-law told me: The reason the Dutch could never conduct a decent war was that the men always had to be home in time for dinner.

8. I love all my in-laws too
Both the ones here and in Holland. I love the crowds. It's natural, since I'm a city guy.

6. Holland rules!
That is, except for its strict immigration policy that is keeping me from moving there :)

Great museums, great scenery and landscape (love the canals), and great tolerance for all people.

Oh yeah, their coffee is pretty good too

:smoke:

7. You should read Richard Powers
He writes (English) fiction about that region... based on a love affair he had:

Three Farmers On Their Way To A Dance

Galatea 2.0
