How do you hook an XBOX 360 up to an internet connection

I have a wireless connection in my house, a desktop and a laptop. The laptop is on the wifi, so I'm guessing I can run a network cable from the laptop to the XBOX. However does the XBOX have the hardware on it to function on the Wifi network or do I need to buy an adapter? After doing more research, I don't think I can connect it to a laptop and need to connect it to a router. Damn.

Who makes a cheap wireless router? The ones I see are all $50 or more.

2. I bought an Xbox wireless adapter $100

that glommed onto my wireless modem signal. This was after trying to figure out a way to run a cable to my wireless laptop. I don't think you can do it that way.
