Texas Bluebonnets (6 pics)
The area west of Houston around Brenham (Blue Bell Ice Cream) is loaded with bluebonnets. The other wildflowers are started to peak through as well. The second pic is an indian paintbrush. I wish I was a better photographer. My pictures don't do the scenery justice. Fields of blue everywhere, including in town.

2. I thought about her often this weekend, and how she made our lives
much more beautiful. And not just the residents. Lady Bird was really into highway beautification. That is something all motorists through Texas can enjoy.

3. Thanks for those pictures!
They make me homesick. I just love the wildflowers in Texas.

8. My dear Ilsa!
These are wonderful pics! Thank you for sharing the beauty of those flowers with us...

I don't know what kind of camera you're using, but if you want to get really great close-ups and like that, you might want to invest in a digital SLR camera...

They give you a lot of options so you can get the pics you want...

:hi:

You can also post these in the Photo Forum; there are lots of helpful folks over there!

11. It looks just like Maine and Nova Scotia in May-June!
Those flowers look very similar to lupines, are they the same?

14. Yes, bluebonnets are a type of lupine! "Lupinus texensis"
I remember finding a smaller lupine in the Sierra Nevada when hiking ages ago and we came to a meadow with beautiful wildflowers. At first, I thought they were small bluebonnets.

"Another Texas tradition was started by Lady Bird Johnson, after her return from Washington, D.C. as First Lady to President Lyndon Baines Johnson. Lady Bird persuaded the government of the State of Texas to seed bluebonnets and other wildflowers along the highways throughout the state. Every spring the flowers return as a legacy of the First Lady." -- Wikipedia

13. My wife and I spent most of last Saturday
around Brenham, Independence and Washington on the Brazos. A great day for the wildflowers, and for us, too.

16. LOL! I love driving through Independence! It is so pretty through there.
I guess you stopped for pics behind the WalMart and Lowes in Brenham? We spent time there with alot of other people and then drove out to another spot. Lots of families were out taking pictures.

17. Thank you for this. I am in Arizona right now and quite looking
forward to seeing the bluebonnets when I get back to TX.

Out here the bouganvilla (sp) is in full bloom and it is a riot of color.

19. Better get back soon! They'll be gone in two weeks, I bet.
I love bougainvillea -- so many colors to choose from, but the fuchsia is my favorite.
