3. I don't quite follow the symbolism.

The actual Boston Tea Party dumped tea overboard to prevent it from being taxed when it came ashore. This was to protest increasingly oppressive British rule in the colonies, the merchantile system and the taxes that supported them. My understanding was that the radical colonists who participated stole the tea from the owner.

So here we have a bunch of Tories buying their own tea and dumping it to protest what exactly? What oppressive measures has the new Congress and POTUS imposed on them? :shrug:
