Job interview tomorrow: Should I shave?
People tell me I'd look 10 years younger if I'd go back to being clean shaven. Should I shave before my job interview tomorrow?

as another bewhiskered fellow, I'd like to tell you that you don't need to. But most folks just don't like beards for some reason. I'd probably shave.

The good news is, you seem to have a short beard, so growing it back once you have the gig won't take too long!

2. No
just my personal opinion. But then I like beards.

I guess it depends on the job you are applying for.

5. If you need a job, shave.

6. I think so. I'm at that awkward age where I'm getting mostly gray and the mustache
made me look 10 years older. I was striking out on job interviews and I started to think about it, maybe I looked too old. We discussed that in an HR management class I was taking for my MBA and they showed a video about the same guy with makeup going into an interview, once as a young guy and once as a "middle age-ish" guy. The young guy got picked every single time, even though his resume had much less experience. The big difference appearance wise, he had facial hair and gray hair. The "older" guy character looked like my twin, so i really got thinking about it and decided to shave shortly after that class.

I shaved, people commented on how much younger I looked, and I got the next position that I interviewed for. Just an anecdote of course, but I feel there's something to people doing the hiring and them subconsciously going for the "younger" face.

7. My dad had a mustache forever.
He did look so much younger when he finally shaved it off. He looked like a different person for a while, but he ended up loving it.

8. It probably would make you look younger if you did.

Would that be much of an advantage for the job you are interviewing for, or would looking older make you seem more "experienced"?

12. Have you always had a beard?
Or have you just been growing one lately or being lazy and not shaving?

I need to know this before I can answer.

15. Then I think you should
keep it. It's a part of who you are, and you shouldn't compromise that just for a job interview.

14. Your beard looks great, and
you obviously keep it well groomed. But for an interview? In these times? Sorry, but my advice would be to shave.

After you get the job (positive thinking here), you can always grow it back.

Good luck with your interview.

16. If you do shave, be careful!
When my father-in-law shaved after 20 years of a beard, he cut his face all to hell.

18. I would and for only one reason.
I hate the stupid trending of facial hair or no facial hair in work places. I think if you want facial hair, then you should be able to have it.

But I would shave it on the off chance that the interviewer is one of those no-facial hair nazis. Don't want to throw the interview on something so trivial.

Then grow it back after you have the job and are settled in nicely.

:hi:

19. Yes, because you have gray hair in your beard.
It's sad to say but sometimes that does make a difference.
