My dad wants me to get a girlfriend.

He called today and buged me about not having a girlfriend. I hate that I can't tell him I am gay but he might hurt me. When my half sister dated a black man he got drunk and chased him with a gun.:-(

I believe in truth and all, but I also believe in young people physically and emotionally surviving to grow up. Put off telling your dad forever, if necessary. He's not safe. Try to be somewhere else when he comes to town.

If that's not an option, what's the chance that you have a female friend around your age to hang out with (just so your dad sees you in the company of a girl)? Nothing about her being your 'girlfriend' need be said (because having to lie like that sometimes just makes things worse), but perhaps it would be enough to get him to just stfu and leave you alone about your personal life...

Especially if you fear for your safety. If he's bugging you about not having a girlfriend, he probably already suspects you're gay. He could very well blow up at you the next chance he gets if he's that volatile. I'd say avoid him at all costs. Sad, but you have to consider your own well-being.

How hard is it to say you "aren't ready to settle down" or that you're "tagging a different chick" every weekend? Take some provocative pictures of yourself and some female friends and show them to him. Hell, you could photoshop yourself into some porn and he probably wouldn't know. This seems to be a pretty easy one to pull off, especially if you don't see him that often.
