Bristol Palin & Levi Johnston Break Off Engagement

(Photo: Splash Photo Agency) Sarah Palin's 18-year-old daughter Bristol has reportedly broken off her engagement with Levi Johnston, the father of her 2-month-old son Tripp. It's surprising because in an interview just last month with FOX's Gretta Van Susteren, Bristol said the 19-year-old Levi is a hands-on dad and that they planned on marrying after finishing their education.

But in a new interview with Star Magazine, Levi's sister Mercede Johnston says Bristol actually broke up with Levi more than a month ago, is not attending school and rarely lets her baby daddy see their young son. Mercede also says Bristol even told him that she hates him and, when she learned she was pregnant, wished the baby wasn't his.

Mercede told Star: "Bristol's just crazy. That's the nicest way I can put it. She and Levi actually broke up a while ago!"

Yeah, like that shocks any of us here. If Sarah Palin was not the VP candidate I highly doubt these 2 would have been engaged in the first place. But they had to clean up the 'pregnant 17yo unwed daughter' mess and figured they could clean up Levi enough to make him presentable at the RNC convention.

1. Oh yeah.
I never doubted it was a political "stunt" to impress the voters. I'm surprised actually it took this long to end.

3. It might have been genuine, given the time factor involved.
Not that I don't disbelieve the possibility it was just a stunt. Palin, Jingo, and the rest are all stunts until proven otherwise; the Republicans have lost every shred of credibility...

10. Every intelligent person in the world knew that they had no intention of marrying
and that the Republicans were using something as sacred and beautiful and value-laden as marriage as a cheap stunt.

This is why Republicans shouldn't be allowed to marry. It cheapens all real marriages.

14. And we'd gotten them such a nice gift on behalf of The Lounge.
I guess we'll have to keep the Williams-Sonoma "Moose Dressing Set" for ourselves.

16. Boy, things have changed.
Used to be you fell in love, got engaged, got married, and THEN had kids.
Now I guess you fall in lust, have a kid, get engaged, and then break off the engagement.

I know, I know, I'm a geezer.
;-)
