Oh, sorry that was 40 years ago.
Just thought I would post this for Lynnsin's benefit.

I used to go to shows at the Wheaton Youth Center but didn't hear about this one. Saw Rod Stewart, Nils Logren, and Dr John there and friends of mine saw Iggy. Rod Stewart didn't have separate billing at the time it was just The Small Faces. We booed them, because everyone wanted Grin to keep on playing.

I grew up by Holy Cross hospital, met my wife at Ernie's pizza when we were in high school. It's not completly white any more, pretty diverse minority population.

But, it is pretty much Wheaton. I lived near Randolph Rd and Viers Mill.

I heard the area I lived got really crappy, but kind of made a comeback in the 90's. I'm not sure how it is now.

but theres a lot of gang shit in the silver spring, wheaton area, hell even areas like bethesda etc are starting to have more crap happening there.

I moved down to Orlando in 80, and even the nicest areas are surrounded by the hood. They put up a pricy mall about 1/2 mile up the road from the apartment complex where there were more calls for police service than anywhere in the county.

compared to DC, we have next to nothing.

13. trust me there is an undercurrent in the wheaton area,

you dont see it if you dont know what you are lookin for, but there is a major problem with MS13 and latino on latino crime there, also you get a bleed over from PG county, so no im not exaggerating the problem, its just that DC is so out of control it would make downtown Sarajevo during sniper alley look peaceful.

and your description of DC crime is also exaggerated, with comparisons to Sarajevo. You really need to get out more and see the world.

I used to live in urban Los Angeles, I used to commute through REAL gang turf, 18 St. Rolling Gangster Crips, and Los Locos. The gang activity in MoCo is extremely minor and amateurish by comparison, and the police are all over it.

MoCo has about 20 murders a year in a population of 900,000 people. DC has about 200 murders a year in a population of about 560,000.

in the same week we saw a disappointing live performance, and the release of the second album, which we all bought without hearing it first. We all thought it much weaker than the first album.

and Led Zep lost us all as fans after that.
