Computer/network geeks, help!
Edited on Sun Mar-08-09 11:34 AM by Tripper11
Sorry to post here, but I hope to get a quicker answer here then if I were to post in the computer forum.

So yesterday we bought an iTouch and after some troubleshooting, we managed to get it WiFi connected to my network using this :

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qi...25060949AAf9bIY

Set the information under the static tab to the following:

IP Address: 192.168.1.150
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Router: 192.168.1.1
DNS: 192.168.1.1

After having successfully connecting to the internet and using the iTouch I decided to do the same for my kids PSP.
I used the same settings as above.
The problem is, I have no iTouch connectivity now, but the PSP is fine.
What do I need to change in order to allow both devices to connect?

So essentially I want both devices to connect using wifi to my network.

Edited to add - The iTouch is my wifes and it worked fine last night when she went to sleep, I broke it and want to fix before she wakes up!!!! :scared:

1. Did you assign the IP static or is the router
handing out that address? IP addresses must be unique to a device. Be sure each one has a unique address assigned.

2. I assigned as above
So would I need to give one of the devices a different IP addy then? If that's the case, what?

3. As was already mentioned, you need a different IP address than your iTouch
Try bumping it up one to 192.168.1.151

I figured it was something like that.

Ok, I switched thew iTouch to 192.168.1.151

And kept the PSP at 192.168.1.150 - but when I test the connection it times out.

Edited to add - iTouch connecting nice and fast with no issues. PSP not playing nice!

5. Make one of the devices 192.168.1.150, and the other 192.168.1.151...
...same subnet mask. I'm working on the assumption that your router IS NOT enabled for DHCP is you're configuring everything statically. Just remember that each device on your network must have a unique IP Address, which in this case, can be anything from 192.168.1.2 to 192.168.1.254

8. Why are you setting static IP addresses?
Just set them to DHCP auto and you will be set, they will automatically be assigned the appropriate IP address when connecting by the router.
