Then was encouraged by fundy friends to "study the Bible". The more I studied, the less sense it made, the more I saw that the "God" these people worshipped was a psychopath.

I first rejected the idea that such a creature as "Satan" existed, as he was just a convenient "fall guy" for people to blame for their own evil.

It pretty much snowballed from there.

was Exodus, God, Moses and Pharaoh.

Pharaoh was ACTUALLY CONVINCED by Moses, but God, being a prick, made Pharaoh change his mind, so he could slaughter Egyptian children.

Add to this praising incest, endorsing rape, and dashing babies heads against trees and you have a "Supreme Being" who makes John Wayne Gacy look like Mr. Rogers.

he's a vindictive, evil bastard. I think the snake did Adam and Eve a favor in the garden by exposing them to the bullshit of God. Plus, who creates something, only to DEMAND worship or else face eternal punishment? Fuck. That.

As a rationalist, I can't say that "a god" doesn't exist (you can't prove a negative"), but I am damn certain the god they have been peddling for the two millenia doesn't exist.
