Jennifer Anniston...Why? Why? Why?????
This "actor" evidently has the best publicist in the country. The latest is an article on her love of hamburgers. I mean really, what does she contribute to the world of entertainment??? She's a half-baked actor at best, has been seen in some of the stupidest films to come out of LaLa Land and yet, she's on just about every cover of the tabloids and internet. Maybe it's just me, perhaps I just don't get it. I'm so sick of her and Brangelina I just needed to rant a little.

I go to the entertainment pages to see what's in production, who's going to be in what film, etc. Yet, there they are. Okay, I'm over it. Happy Monday.

1. One of many overrated actors
The power of self promotion.

Not even very attractive--that mile long chin!! She has one of those faces that when old will have chin and nose meeting each other.

And we'll let you know how your looks add up, too.

publicist. There's a huge danger of backlash from overkill, though, and I think she's flirting with it. She and Brangelina should all disappear for a good long while and let somebody else hog the spotlight.

5. Yes, yes, to both of you. Back in the day when the studios pretty much
"owned" their "stars" at least the selling was spread out a little. There are numerous stars I want to know more about. Older stars who are semi-retired, what are they up to? Would they ever consider doing TV? We remember their children when they were small, how and where are they now? I mean, it could be interesting reading and there is a demographic (like me) that's interested. I don't doubt that Anniston and Brangelina are lovely people. But the onslaught makes them start to be irrelevant. BTW, Pitt is becoming such a wuss no news on him would not be missed...

and while some might disagree, I think she's pretty damn good looking

8. I'm sure she's SO over Brad PItt by now...
The tabloids just have to keep the woman scorned thing going because it sells magazines. I actually like Brad Pitt a lot better when he was with JA then with AJ. He seems kind of whipped now.

Pretty standard Ridley Scott "fast rotate over building to slow" overhead directing and helicopters traveling at 30 feet behind a convoy BECAUSE THAT MAKES SO MUCH FUCKING SENSE!

sorry, that hits a nerve with me.

14. Not really.
I defend her here all of the time. I like her. She does good deeds and she is funny in her movies. They aren't all Oscar worthy movies, but still, she is far beyond Friends. That is just what launched her career. She seems to be doing pretty well for herself.

16. She's had some very good parts in movies like "The Good Girl" and "Friends with Money"
Don't sell the gal short when it comes to talent - she just needs to focus on jobs that gets her away from the 'Rachel Mode' and she can really show some talent.

People think they know her because of her years on Friends. In interviews she comes across as a nice person. And she is beautiful.

She's not a great actor, but she's easy on the eyes, and she doesn't piss me off.

25. She's nothing to really get excited over
Her publicist must be a millionaire because after all these years, I don't get what the big deal is, either. Her only attribute is her mild attractiveness. She has effectively been playing "Rachel" for the last 15 years seeing that 99.9% of movies she's in copycats that exact role. When she tries to stretch out into other genre's, her transparency is pretty obvious. Which makes me think she probably isn't 'acting' at all. Yet, America sops it up like gravy for reasons beyond my knowledge.

I really don't mind because most people like crackers and milk for entertainment, anyhow. But I don't understand the obsession with her personal life, which I'm sure her and her publicist perpetuate in order to keep her relevant. Notice her name pops up more and more when she has some lame ass romantic comedy coming down the pike. Am I the only one who doesn't care who she banged, who those people are banging now, who she's banging now, and who she plans on banging in the future?

26. We have so argued this before BUT she has always been a paparazzi
fave. And then when she married Pitt, they became golden in Hollywood. Then he left her for Jolie. It is $$$$ for the media. They publish pics of the celebs that sell the magazines. People like her because of her "girl next door" persona.

29. She perpetuates it as most celebs do
Trust me, she loves the paparazzi. It may be a burden at rare times but if she really wanted away from it, she could. I don't buy celebs pretending to bite the hands that feed them. It's bullshit. Her team feeds the tabloid folk stories, they write undercover/insider trash and people buy the mags. I'd be willing to bet a paycheck most stories surrounding her have ties to her people planting them first. Again, this is nothing new. Check out how many times Madonna's friends are 'worried she works out too much' usually before a tour or movie is released. Some publications go over the line, perhaps, in coverage but rarely is there a line written about her she didn't have a part in. I'll hand it to her and her team, they've got America completely duped.

30. Well that goes for every celebrity. And she can't make America
want to know about or care about her. The interest is there regardless of what her people put out.

31. Bullshit
Edited on Mon Mar-02-09 03:07 PM by Symarip
Plenty of celebs choose to stay out of tabloid game. The interest is perpetuated at the source of the stupidity: the celebrities, themselves. For arguments sake let's say, a large portion of it isn't manufactured on her end. Big fucking deal. That's the price you pay for stardom. But in today's information age I don't buy it. America is duped all the time by celebs playing the tabloid/media/product placement game. Check out how often Drew Barrymore drops a line here or there about how much she loves Kraft cheese. Guess what? She's on the payroll.

Personally, it doesn't really mean a whole hill of beans to me one way or the other. I'm sure she's a real super person in real life. But I'll never know her or any other famous personalities either. And I've had my taste of Hollywood and I can tell you that nearly nothing happens through the media blitz that isn't 100% orchestrated.

27. She was in Office Space, that was a great movie.
Granted, it wasn't her that made that film (I'd say that goes to Gary Cole, Stephen Root, Diedrich Baker and David Herman), but still, you can't say that every movie she's been in has been bad.

Oh and "The Good Girl" was well done, too.
