With St Patrick’s day just around the corner,
Edited on Sat Mar-06-04 10:48 PM by The Lone Liberal

don’t you just wish the whole damn shebang was Irish.

You must be having a cold, cold heart not to get misty eyed thinking about the beauty of Dingle. Is there a villain whose soul is so hardened that he does not wax poetic about the ruins of Cong. So join me in lifting our pints and let us raise our voices in praise of dear old Ireland, may she receive my spirit when my time is done.

1. With the exception of the part about raising pints,
I have no clue what you're referring to....and to make it worse: I was born on St Patrick's Day and have nary an ounce of Irish blood in me......

2. love Ireland.
The Soldiers' Song
by Peader Kearney

We'll sing a song, a soldiers song,
With cheering rousing chorus,
As round our blazing fires we throng,
The stary heavens o'er us;
Impatient for the coming fight,
And as we wait the morning's light,
Here in the silence of the night,
We'll chant a soldiers.
Soldiers are we,
Whose lives are pledged to Ireland;
Some have come
From a land beyond the wave.
Sworn to be free,
No more our ancient sire land,
Shall shelter the despot or the slave.
Tonight we man the bearna baoghail,
In Erin's cause, come woe or weal;
'Mid cannons' roar and rifels peal
We'll chant a soldiers song.
In valley green,,on towering crag,
Our fathers fought before us,
And conqured' neath the same old flag
That's proudly floating o'er us,
We're children of a fighting race,
That never yet has known disgrace,
And as we march, the foe to face,
We'll chant a soldiers song.
Sons of the Gael! Men of the Pale!
The long watched day is breaking;
The serrried ranks of Inisfail
Shall set the Tyrant quaking.
Our camp fires now are burning low:
See in the east a silv'ry glow,
Out yonder waits the Saxon foe,
So chant a soldier's song.

My favorite grandmother was born in Tipperary. Would dearly love to go over there.

4. Don't forget about the beauty of
the "wee six". The Mourne Mountains, the Glens of Antrim, Giant's Causeway, etc.

5. Are you still joining us tomorrow?
I called the owner of you-know-where today to warn us of our visit there. He well remembered us and was happy we are returning (guess that means we were not TOO rowdy). Mentioned that your husband knew him, and he is looking forward to seeing you.

:toast:
