Wisconsinites! I see why you live in such a cold place! New Glarus!
This would be reason to brave the Wisconsin winters...or even the Minnesota winters!

Right now drinking a New Glarus Uff Da Bock. Let me say I usually hate German beers. That is what I love about New Glarus - they make me like beers I usually wouldn't!

1. Yes, they make some fine
beers in New Glarus. My favorite is Spotted Cow, although I do like Totally Naked, which is only available seasonally.

30. Shit you're only scratching the surface with Spotted Cow and Totally Naked!
Both are awesome - but try some of their unplugged stuff - or their fruit beers (?!?!??!)

Yeah, I know

I thought drinking fruit beers was on par with drinking Michelob Ultra Light

Then I had theirs

FUCKIING WOW!

We are talking every reason you like beers AND fruit!

4. I see your stomach is feeling better....glad to hear it!
Is there any particular reason you hate German beer? I'm pretty fond of DAB myself, and Spaten Octoberfest

Although tonight, after work I will dine on La Fin Du Monde

5. I'm just more a fan of English and Belgian styles
German beers are OK - I like German Hefs as opposed to American Hefs.

I'm just not a big lager fan - more into ales and particularly IPAs.

7. shouldn't that be a Swiss beer?
Plus it kinda bothers me the way they say Glare-us instead if Glar-us but it's better than Muscoday.

11. I've had some of their stuff and s'ok
Nothing to write home about - but what NG does is takes these styles: Dunkelbocks, Maibocks, Cream Ales, Berlinner Weisses, and Fruit Beers and actually make them good.

I fucking hate fruit beers! I love Wisconsin Red and Raspberry Tart!

Anyone who can turn a fruit beer into something delicious is a genius in my book.

16. WI, MN, MI, IL = Beer so good that I am not worthy to lick the brewmaster's sole
Seriously, they make some damn fine beer up there. Anything Bells makes is good. Anything Surly makes is good. And, of course, anything New Glarus makes is good.

I am usually an IPA kinda guy. Give me meditations on the hop cone. But New Glarus makes me go outside my bubble, and try these German beers I've never usually liked, and makes me LOVE THEM.

I guess that's why brewing is a love, not a moneymaker.

35. I still have a few bottles of their Tail Wagger Barley Wine from 2005
It ages pretty well. From the current offerings, I'd recommend the New Glarus ALT beer. It might not be around much longer (not sure about that), so I say stock up. As a side note, ALT seems to have a very high alcohol content. Uff Da!

And of course, any of the unplugged beers are worth trying. :toast:
