10. All the people who got up and spoke were really good
There were about 100 people there holding candles.

Standing room only in the meeting.

Hopefully something can be done.

4. Redding's more like a gateway...
and Red Bluff is the gateway to Redding...how about Eureka? Or Yreka? Or both, just to be weird? It would be a weird state, and I'd move there in a minute! One of my best friends lives there and I've visited several times...I'd stay there if I could!

9. Unmitigated ecological disaster waiting to happen.
Without any money coming in from areas with significant numbers of people (you're talking pretty damned empty when your two big cities are Redding and Medford, ffs) or much industry to speak of, for economic reasons Jefferson would have to log and dam many more places than Oregon or California would. And since the electorate would be a bit long on rednecks and meth cooks, there wouldn't be any political will to prevent that, except for the usual small pockets of old hippies in Humboldt, Mendo and Ashland.

11. The key would be the legalization of pot.
Of course if they did that, no way Saramento would let them secede. Too much revenue for the gropinator!

13. You're right about that
The Klamaths (actually a rather fragile barren wilderness type of environment) don't support anything I see down there other than weed (hence my tongue-in-cheek post)...Although it is perhaps the most intriguing part of the country for me because it is so isolated...and for anybody who wonders I am not a pothead! I admit I smoked it before but life's responsibilities say no to that! At least until I a job and pass any tests they order!

and tinfoil the state hat.

23. This is probably the new Repuke strategy to retake Congress.
Just keep seceding away the "red" parts of Blue states until they have enough new Repuke states created out of thin air to retake the Senate, and maybe even the House if they're lucky.

There's a Freeper element that's been trying to split off the Eastern half of Washington state for years.

Two red states on the West Coast? Nobody needs that shit.

24. Pfft. Everybody knows that the actual 51st state is Hohoq (or Ar).
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Areas_of_My_Expertise#The_51_United_States

I read about it in a fictional account of world knowledge, and as I have never seen Hohoq for myself or its mighty Thunderbirds, I can only assume that it is, in fact, real.
