7. I had Latin 1st period
Yes, Latin. Trying to conjugate Latin verbs while toasted was hilarious.

8. Hell, trying to "conjugate Latin verbs" at all was weird.
All six different ways ;)
Latin was a good language class. I would have liked to have taken multiple years of it, but the teacher left after my first year of it. I was never "toasted" though ;)

So, just how hilarious were your particularly toasted conjugations? :P

12. try 31 years ago.
I still remember some of it ;) mostly pronunciations, though. It did spur on my passing interest in etymology however :)

My favorite part of the class was getting into small groups and going over vocabulary with the teacher, "learning" the words by determining what modern english words they most resembled or seemed to be associated with.

10. Spicoli's buds were Eric Stoltz and Anthony Edwards ("Goose"/ER)
Edited on Fri Jan-30-09 09:18 AM by underpants
and yes that was Nicholas Cage in Brad's group of friends (Cage was originally the pick to play Brad)

Andy Rathbone was the student that Cameron Crowe based Mark "Rat" Ratner on. He became famous in his own right for writing many of the "for Dummies" help books series

Nicolas Cage appears under the name Nicolas Coppola for the first and only time.

The woman at the stoplight that Brad winks at is Nancy Wilson of "Heart" Cameron Crowe's wife

"Mrs. Vargas" was played by Lana Clarkson who was the woman found dead in Phil Spector's house (his murder trial)

14. Yeah. It's sad in two parts.
They never reached commercial success with material that had any type of lasting substance (granted, Dead Man's Party is a really fucking hard song to play). And in the aftermath, the band will always stand in the shadow of everything that is Danny Elfman.

In my teenage years, I got to see them around 25 times. I have nearly every record they've ever put out, including a Demo EP hand painted back in 1979. I showed Elfman some of my collection and he admitted I have items from the band he didn't even know existed.

I was a little obsessed.

15. I remember Elfman mentioning that he always knew when a city was playing them or not
due to the age of the audience. Older audience members meant there was little if any airplay locally while younger audiences meant they were getting local airplay. That was also normal for the West and East coasts, which is normal for commercial radio, anyway.

Hey, the Mystic Knights of the Oingo Boingo also did a great rendition of Minnie the Moocher :D

I'll dig it up.

On edit: http://www.twilight-land.com/features_mysticknights.html

This website is blocked at my work but I remember they had a few concerts up there to listen to. Let me know if they're still there.

qnd a search on Internet Archive only archived the site and not the images or streams.

If you have another link that works, just bump this thread later and I'll see it :)

18. Really it's to be back in time in the high school I was in
Now I teach in one and it is nothing like I remember it. Where we would come off the bus, go across the street into the woods and get our minds ready for the day. Other days I remember driving to school with three other kids and when we got out of the car it was like getting out of Penns van. Now you just look stoned and the administration has the cops taking you away and prosecuting you. Of course I barely remember anything about high school, 75 grad.
