you know, I don't mind meeting people on line. I don't mind chatting back and forth to see if there is enough in common to warrant meeting IRL.

But just as IRL, I'm pretty reserved around strangers. And some stranger I've never met talking about "u + me" really grates. Sorry, the presumed intimacy is :puke: to me.

Do guys have success with this tactic?

I'd prefer speaking in complete sentences and using good English would impress me way more. Is there something wrong with me?

I started going to babelfish and translating variations of "I'm sorry, I don't understand what you're saying." into different languages for when that happens. :P

It's just so weird to me to expect immediate coziness. I would never expect that from anyone. A certain affinity, or lust of course. But the verbal intimacy is off putting if I don't have any of those feelings for you (yet).
