5. Let's hope its as good as the last one.
The couple before it weren't nearly as impressive.

7. It's been said the first and last ones were made first, in case FOX would bow out...
Which explains why the middle two are flaky compared to the first one.

The finale is supposed to be _big_.

I did enjoy "Bender's Game" far more than "Beast with Billion Tentacles"...

And I don't consider myself to be a "Trekkie". Just looks like it will be fun.

3. meh
I'm a big Trekkie and I am NOT enthused about it. I'm not a fan of "reboots"

4. Lifelong Trek fan here, and I too am excited about this
Yeah, I know, it means a big change for the franchise, but things could not have continued the way they were.

And I'm glad they're returning to the characters of my childhood. I actually think they made inspired choices in their casting of those iconic roles.

6. Yeah, that's part of the fun of it
For the past twenty-five years, all the films and series have treated the TOS era as the distant past; there's a freeing novelty to the idea that it's once again the future.

8. Let's see how the movie plays out first.
Kirk always broke the prime directive when he felt it helped a society. Not out of aimless excitement, which seems to be the inference from the theatrical trailer where he nicked a posh convertible from a museum and was being chased by Robocop... followed by a scene of Uhura(tm)undressing and Spock(tm) arguing with Kirk(tm) over something...

If the characters are too different, and as of yet I really don't know because snippets are not the while film, then it oughtn't be called "Star Trek". Like how the I SPY flick from the late 90s has nothing in common with the 60s tv show except the trademarked names...
