He heard the sound of heavy foot steps. A ghost story.
My Grandparents were Travelers in the Society of Friends. Often times in their travels they were required to live as best the Friends could provide for them. My father tells this story.

In the twenties his Mom and Dad were living in a converted cheese factory in upper New York State. Dad traveled from Buffalo N.Y. on his Indian Motorcycle to visit them. Riding with Dad was his constant companion a small feisty Terrier dog.

Dad spent a couple of days with them. One evening they were out to a meeting. Dad and his terrier were sitting in the make shift kitchen. Dad heard the loud sounds of somebody walking down the stairs from the second floor. Strange because he did not know anybody else was there.

The terrier ran barking to the stairs, Dad right behind him. The dog ran up the stairs toward the noise. The dog was raised high into the air by something and thrown down the stairs.

Fortunately the Indian started first kick. Dad and dog were on their way!

Wooooooooooooo. Dad told us kids that story a number of times.

1. Watch the movie "Big Fish" if you haven't already
Maybe the old man in the movie will remind you of your dad?

I myself don't believe in ghosts as I have never seen one.
