What would you do with ....
$100?

$1000?

$10,000?

$100,000?

Just curious, cause each figure matters differently to each of us I think. Just wondering. Thanks for your input.

Quite a few options here. Fun and responsibility. Or just fun. Or just responsibility.

Put it in the bank to be a cushion for a critical time.

2. Me.
$100: I've given that much away to a stranger in a bad situation. (A mother of two living in the homeless shelter to get away from her abusive husband.) That felt really good...if I had $100 to spare, I'd do it again.

$1000: Pay down my student loans.

$10000: Pay off my student loans.

$100000: Pay off my student loans then give the rest to my parents.

5. Okay, I'll bite.
$100 = Groceries, pet supplies, household necessities.

$1000 = All of the above plus a cartload for the food bank, and then the rest put toward paying our bills ahead and helping my Mom pay hers.

$10,000 = All of the above, except make that five cartloads of food for the food bank plus some gift cards for perishables, paying our bills ahead until Fall semester, yearly Vet exams and spay/neuter for the furkids who still need it, and getting some kind of vehicle with whatever's left over.

$100,000 = All of the above, except replace the cartloads of food with a $10,000 donation of cash, getting ALL of the neighborhood strays spayed/neutered and vaccinated, $5000 to the no-kill shelter, buying a better used mobile home and scrapping this one, getting a certified used vehicle that's actually going to run for more than a year or so, getting my Mom into a decent apartment and out of her shack in the woods, and paying down our student loans.

9. 100 bucks, skating season pass. Been putting on weight lately
because I haven't been exercising.

1000? Hmm. Hard to say on that one. Probably put it aside for when I'm done with community college.

10,000? Start investing in my brewing. Maybe actually turn it into a real business.

100,000? Definitely turn my brewing into a business. :)

12. Let's see.
$100: Groceries.

$1000: Pay down the student fees I had to put on my credit card (we weren't told grad students would have to pay them until after we had accepted/declined student loans, and I had declined mine).

$10,000: Pay off my car, use the rest to pay off the student fees on my credit card.

$100,000: Pay off my car, pay off my student loans, pay off my credit card, set enough aside to pay next year's student fees, give $10,000 to my parents, who have hit a rough patch.

Gone.

24. Oh yes. So sorry. I would be trying to take varying types of trips, depending on the amount.
$100 - Gas and a night or two camping or motoring around in my area.

$1000 - Airfare and rental car and most expenses for about 3 weeks out west. Desert/mountain combo loop.

$10,000 - Definately Africa for several months. At least 5 or 6 countries. At least 5 or six months.

$100,000 - The Africa/South America Combo Platter. And who knows where else. Then try to invest in something with a fair return. I would try to help out a few people close to me, with one thing or another. Maybe learn to play the cello or piano.

Any of these amounts would probably go kind of quickly, so I'd be prepared to have as much fun as possible.

$100? Wouldn't notice it. I'd keep on doing whatever it is that I do.

$1000? Pay bills.

$10,000? Pay off part of my debt.

$100,000? Pay off all my bills, retire my debt, then figure out how to sit on the rest while I ride this economic storm out.

EDIT: As usual, I incorrectly used the word "bills" to mean either "bills" or "debt". Confuses the hell out of my family, too...lol. I fixed it.

28. Regardless of which amount
I would give a good portion of it to someone else in need. We don't live too high on the hog but we feel fortunate to have what we do have. So many have less. We couldn't keep such a windfall without allowing someone else the benefit of it, too.

What I kept for myself would pay off all of our debt...all $3000 of it. Then some would buy my other half a new small pickup truck, with the rest to savings for our old age, um, which isn't too far off now and we have no savings for it at all.

:hi:

$100 = grocery bill for a dinner party with neighbors/friends

$1,000 = half for car payements, the other half to charity

$10,000 = health insurance for a year! (more or less) anything left over goes to carity.

$100,000 = pay off all my debt, health insurance, a family trip to Japan and a few European cities, anything left would go into savings/investments and charity.

on edit: forgot something :D

$1000-pay over draft (grrr), grocery trip and skip the ramen, pay my car registration, and pass on the air mattress to buy a bed or at least a decent futon.

$10,000-replace lots of stuff lost in the fire not worrying what the insurance will do, and upgrade car to something reliable.

$100,000-Massive down payment on a new home, all of the stuff above except I'd probably buy a real car that could hold up to driving across country, maybe even a new Focus, and probably nursing school.
