Q. How do you link Buddy Holly to David Hasselhoff via 6 Youtube videos?
1. Buddy Holly died in a plane crash in 1959, along with Ritchie Valens and The Big Bopper...

2. The Big Bopper, otherwise known as JP Richardson, made it to the top of the pop charts with a '59 song he wrote for Johnny Preston called Running Bear...

3. 12 years later, an eccentric British singer named Jonathan King had a modest hit by taking BJ Thomas' 1969 song Hooked on a Feeling...

4. ...and covering it with the "ooga-chaka" chanting from Richardson's Running bear, resulting in a modest hit in 1971...

5. In 1974, the Swedish rock band Blue Swede covered King's cover, complete with the "ooga-chaka", and had a #1 hit with it in 1974...

6. Finally, in 1997, David Hasselhoff took Blue Swede's cover of a cover and made the most unintentionally hilarious music video of all time.

2. Now let's try it without YouTube...
Buddy Holly performed with Jerry Allison (drummer for The Crickets).

Jerry Allison's Crickets once featured Ric Grech (of Blind Faith) on bass.

Ric Grech played with Eric Clapton in Blind Faith.

Eric Clapton has performed with Paul Carrack.

Paul Carrack worked with composer/arranger/producer Chris Walden (on Carrack's "A Soulful Christmas" album).

Chris Walden produced David Hasselhoff's "Sings America" album.
