7. I think she looks good, but maybe because her weight/size seems to fit her
and she doesn't look ill at all, although she's definitely skinnier than what I normally "go for" so to speak. But she still looks good. As someone who has been "too skinny" and "too fat" this is one aspect of our society that annoys the hell out of me, the obsession with weight, instead of just being happy and healthy.

From a health standpoint, it's hard to say,some people do really thin better than others.

From an attractiveness standpoint (speaking to my personal tastes), yeah, she's way too skinny. I like big,bouncy, curvaceous, voluptuous natural women. But that's just me. :evilgrin:

17. I have no idea who that is but from one picture and nothing else to compare with
I would say she looks fine. "Too thin" to me involves a hella lot more info. Some people just are skinny, some are not. If there has been some kind of drastic change then maybe yeah too thin, or hell the reverse could even be true. My main concern with REALLY skinny, but otherwise healthy bodies is having no "reserve" in the case of illness (especially gastrointestinal bugs!)

Me, I got too much reserve.:rofl: (but maybe I could get a date with GTRMAN - heh)

She looks thin, but a healthy type of thin. I'd say she's not too thin. I'd want to put some meat on her bones though, but that's just the cook/nurturing/momma type in me.

20. Thats pretty much it in my book.
I'd add when the clavicle is prominent as well. An animal that has its bones so noticeable is usually yanked away from its owner as malnorished. When you see a human in the same condition, I don't care what the freaking people say, thats NOT HEALTHY.

21. but even that can be deceptive
When I was poor and skinny, I was very healthy. I rode like 20 miles a day average on my bike, walked a lot, and ate a lot of good fresh, healthy food, but weighed about 25-30 pounds less than I do now.

As the little guy in my family (I'm only 6'2"...), my bones are pretty big and prominent. Hell, even when I am in the upper end of my height's "normal" weight, my elbows and, shoulders, clavicles, and hip bones still stick out a little. I know saying "I'm big boned" sounds funny from someone who was skinny, but it's the truth.

anorexia does sometimes occur in men, it's much, much more common in women.

Maybe I've just been in Texas too long. It is a very "fat friendly" state & there aren't a lot of women (or men) who are too thin here.

Apple's Steve Jobs will stay as CEO
Apple says hormone imbalance cause of weight loss; easily treatable
updated 6:23 p.m. ET Jan. 5, 2009
NEW YORK - Apple founder Steve Jobs, a survivor of pancreatic cancer whose gaunt appearance in the past year has alarmed the Mac and iPod lovers who look to him as an oracle, said Monday he has an easily treated hormone imbalance and will remain in charge of the company.

The news sent Apple stock up more than 4 percent on a down day for much of the market. But Jobs did not say whether the problem was related to the cancer, and some analysts said the health watch may not be over.

<snip>

In a public letter, Jobs, 53, said his thinness had been a mystery even to him and his doctors until a few weeks ago, when “sophisticated blood tests” confirmed that he has “a hormone imbalance that has been ‘robbing’ me of the proteins my body needs to be healthy.”

<snip>

Jobs announced in 2004 that he had undergone successful surgery to treat a very rare form of pancreatic cancer — an islet cell neuroendocrine tumor. The cancer is easily cured if diagnosed early. Jobs did not have a deadlier and more common form of pancreatic cancer called adenocarcinoma.

Some people are naturally thin, while others are naturally bigger no matter how much they exercise or eat.

This woman, who I have no idea who she is, doesn't look too thin to me.

49. Tell your husband to stuff it.
You should be healthy for your body type, whatever that type may be.

That actress looks like someone with a naturally ectomorphic shape. She's a little bit thinner than women I usually find attractive, but not sickly.

If you don't have that body type--which is kind of rare, though WILDLY overrepresented among celebrities--please don't make yourself ill trying to achieve it and please don't take bullshit from people who think you should. It's just fashion. Look at the women who were considered the height of beauty 50 or 100 years ago. Not that thin. No reason to think the beauty standard will be the same in 50 years either.

I wouldn't call her too thin - she's small, but I'm not getting any alarm bells. I think that, except in the obvious cases, it's impossible to make that sort of assessment from a picture. Body compositions vary so much that a healthy weight may look very different from one person to the next...
