Anyone read Child 44 by Tom Rob Smith?
Unbelievably incredible book based on the true story of a serial killer in Russia during the Stalin era.

5. I thought it was a great look at
how things must have been in the Stalinist era. I wasn't sold on it as a thriller. I guess I got spoiled after "Silence of the Lambs." I'm pretty picky about my serial killers now.

They have to have something more interesting than slice and dice. However, I won't read books with kids missing or in the hands of a killer. I also hate it when an animal enters a story. You just know something evil is going to happen to it.

7. I did read and enjoyed as more
of a history than as a thriller.:hi:

9. Loved it
I liked how it worked on so many levels -- you got an idea for the minutiae of the lives of regular people and how that drew a picture of the country's political scene. The vastness of the landscape was juxtaposed against the butterfly effect of how a nosy old biddy on the Black Sea could affect the lives of a family hundreds of miles away.
