Stupid FedEx (and to a lesser extent, Apple).
I ordered a book of photos from Apple earlier this month, and had it shipped to my place of work so it would be a surprise for my wife. (Hey, not THAT kind of book...pictures of our two-year-old song.) Based on Apple's own holiday shipping promises, it should have arrived in time. However, it ended up being scheduled to arrive 3-4 days later. Wouldn't be that big of a deal, except that place of work is a school, and has been closed since Dec. 19.

So, I wrote to Apple, and they quickly and apologetically contacted FedEx to reroute the shipment to another address. FedEx being FedEx, they tried to deliver the package to the original address anyway (which, through some kind of mystery, was missing the actual "house" number and street name, so they couldn't find the place). I called FedEx, and was put on hold by one gentleman. After waiting a while, the line started ringing, and I found myself talking to a very nice woman (who had no idea why I was calling, and was very upset with whoever transferred me directly to her, as they were at least supposed to tell me first). She then transferred me to another apologetic woman who looked in the cage and on three different trucks...and couldn't find my package. So now I have no idea where it is. She took my number and will contact me if she can figure out where it went. Her hope is that they already rerouted it after the failed delivery, and she just hasn't been informed of that yet.

I had similar problems with FedEx delivering me some calendars from Apple last year. I really wish they offered another carrier.
