Thanks to the wonderfulness that is leftyclimber, it is finally warm enough in the kitchen to come out here. Yay! A recap of the events of last night and today:
--We bunkered down in the back bedroom last night with a small space heater, the cats, and THREE comforters. When we woke up this morning, it wasn't -15 anymore, but it was still too cold for us furless humans, so after letting the strays back outside and giving Toby a brief bathroom break, we settled back down under the blankets to read/doze until everything warmed up a bit more. Unfortunately, we can't receive the wireless signal in that bedroom, so no internets for us.
--Around 1:00 this afternoon, we heard a knock on the door. It turned out to be leftyclimber, who came bearing gifts! Two more small ceramic space heaters and plastic insulating film for the windows, to be exact. She hung out while we hurriedly dressed, then took us to the store. We got home and plugged in the additional space heaters, which are working FANTASTICALLY, and the temperature in the house has increased dramatically.
--While ThinkBlue did some cleaning in the now-tolerably-temperate kitchen, I spent some quality cat-petting time in the bedroom. I have emerged, and am glad to report that it's now warm enough out here that I don't have to wear my coat! Woo!
--We are now busily assembling the stuff we need to make a last round of Christmas candy, all of which will be given away as gifts to people we care about and appreciate. Speaking of which--hey Midlo! I need your address, Freeper.
