This page explains to me why always ran into free roaming, sweet natured huskies in the street...
When I was a kid.

Apparently, they love strangers and kids: Check. That would have been me.

Friendly and gentle: The dog would come up to me and let me pet it like it always knew me. I was never scared by a husky I met in the streets.

And they love to RUN: There weren't any owners around when I would happen on a husky.

Also, I just found out that this is a bad dog have if you also have cats.

"Hmmmm, juicy delicious cats."

1. We have a husky!
Here she is! Her name is Shadow, and she'll be 10 years old in March.

Yes, she wanders, yes she's the crappiest guard dog in the world, but she's an excellent mouser. But cats... she just likes being friends with them.

But we love her, and she's very affectionate too. She'll make friends with anyone.

Huskies are also good diggers... yep she's a good digger :)

Huskies are also supposed to like curling up to sleep with the kids to keep them warm on cold nights. Alas we conditioned her badly as a puppy - kept her off the bed. Now our son is around... but she won't sleep on the bed (but she'll jump on!)

Mark.

3. We had cats and our huskies loved* them ... chickens too. Now as far
as cats that weren't part of the family, they would studiously ignore any that were on a porch, but those that were in the grass or on the sidewalk were fair game for a fun chase.

* loved in the family member sense, not in the "could use a touch of gravy" sense.

5. Beautiful animals
And seemingly a good choice for a person who might like to keep his home rather on the cool side.

But how are they for those with allergies?

6. Huskies; the bane of vaccuum cleaners everywhere.
I'll get one as soon as they are self-vaccuuming.
