(not that I'm saying you're old or anything :P ). Everything is going electronic, and most of the other students at KU use their laptops during class. I got to admit, I much prefer handwritten lecture notes, mainly because I end up goofing off on the computer if I take it to class.

45. I have no handwriting. I print like a second grader.
A few weeks ago I had to fill out some legal paperwork in my own hand, DO NOT PRINT, it said, and it was excruciating for both me and the poor clerk who was waiting for me to finish. It was like fifth grade all over again. By the seventh grade all my teachers had given up teaching me handwriting, and I either typed or wrote in my usual chicken scratch with multiple crossed out misfires. As a kid I'd get so mad when my hand or my head got out of synch and wrote down the wrong word that I'd scribble out the offending word until there was a hole in the paper.

In college I always had to bring along extra bluebooks for my exams because my writing is large, especially when I'm in a hurry.

I write school absence notes for my kids and the attendence officers know it's my writing because no high school kid would try to pass off a fake that looked like it was scrawled by their six year old brother.

It looks like the desperately scrawled confession of a man who's been tortured for days, until his dominant hand is pulp, so that he has to write with a pencil gripped, mitten-like, in the half-stub that remains of his other hand.

66. I work with a woman who can mirror write
They say DaVinci could do this also. It is her preferred way to write notes, etc. that she jots to herself -- it's just the way her brain works, I guess. First time I saw it, I was really startled. Seriously, you can hold it up to a mirror, and read it -- it's perfectly legible.

If I think of it tomorrow at work, I'll have her write something and I'll do a scan of it -- if you want.

95. Well, everybody knows that antimatter is the corresponding opposite of matter
Being opposite, it stands to reason that a person composed of antimatter would write backwards, or would at least be able to write backwards with ease.

And it's likewise known, incidentally, that people composed of antimatter are evil, especially if they're the mirror-duplicates of people made of conventional matter.

Watch out!

Here's a link to a wikipedia blurb about it.
I find it fascinating, because brain stuff like that is really interesting to me.

70. Of course in using Painter, I had to play with my old calligraphy skills
(as I recall) ;)

And then tried to recreate an even older email sigline in calligraphy

:D

83. Oooh pretty.
Do you still use it? I'd like to learn that and make fancy cards and stuff.

I knew this artist guy whose handwriting was nearly as pretty as calligraphy. Used to love getting cards from him. :)

87. Thank you :)
Calligraphy is one of those things you have to practice a lot. I haven't had to use it in a very long time, but I can play around with it in Painter. I'll have to see if the program has guidelines to use, too. The graph paper in my first example I downloaded from a site that has free printable graph paper :)

Corel Painter is a wonderful "natural media" program. It started out as "Fractal Painter" and then Corel bought it in recent years.

Here's a detail of a "guache" I started earlier this year (for a story I was working on at the time) though I haven't worked on it in a long while. I'm one of those procrastinators, ya know

81. Neat!
Does your smiley face have a nose? Or are those combination exclamation points/eyes?

I must know.

88. I suppose I could put a high-period in there
but it is just the two exclamation points and the smile :)

I'd type that if there was a way

97. North Houston. The magical snow had disappeared by morning.
By afternoon it was so sunny you could almost sunbathe.

100. My abysmal penmanship.

You'll note something odd...I rarely make the same letter identical twice. It's hell on signatures.
