Cat people: Have you tried Pill Pockets for pilling pets?
I've got to get these anti-anxiety drugs into my cat tonight. He's been whing all night for a month and keeps me awake so I'm a wreck. The vet did a lot of blood work and nothing showed up.

My sister swears by these pill pockets but I think my little pea brain may be just smart enough to figure out how to get the treat and spit out the pill.

1. they're wonderful!!
My kitty wants to eat them for treats.

They are very moldable so you can just squish it around the pill. No mess, no fuss, it's GONE down the hatch.

3. they are good
just get him in a solid postion and do it quickly - practice a couple times first so you're comfortable with the popper

4. With our kitty, we just pry her hinges open and toss it down.
Usually works. It's the dog we have to get clever with.

5. Pill Pockets work great for my dog, but not so much my cats.
With the cats, it has to be something liquid I can give them with a dropper, or a pill I can either crush or take apart to pour powder into wet food.

6. Pill Pockets are great! They must taste great, because when I used them to give Shamu
antibiotics last summer, the others would come around begging for one, too. So, Pill Pockets for everyone! And they mold around the pill, so Shamu has never gotten a pill out of it. But he never tries. He just gulped down the pocket, pill and all. A thousand times easier than one of those pill syringe things, which are a thousand times easier than just forcing the pill into the cat.

7. None of my 7 cats will tolerate the pill pockets - they all
hate the taste. I have to give one of my babies meds twice a day, and I use a pill syringe, sometimes called a pill gun. I found one at the local pet store - about $3. I got one for small dogs and it has worked perfectly for my cats.

8. No, I tell my cats, "No pill? No treat. Want a treat?"
Pill first, then treats, see?

Of course, Sunday Girl is the only one taking pills nowadays and she is so smart all I have to do is tell her it's time to take her medicine and she flicks the pill on down herself. She's super cat. Well, I have to put it in her mouth, but she throws her head back and all that jazz like an old pro. I put her treats down on the floor in front of her before I do and tell her it's medicine time.

Before she can turn on her internal Hoover and start sucking the treats down in one swoop motion, I grab her and flick the pill toward her mouth. She throws her head back, swallows, and goes for the treats. Every once in a while, she'll fling the pill across the room, but that's only when I miss. She waits patiently in that case until I get my shit together and do it right. She's such a good girl.

9. Update: I tried them last night
I couldn't believe it! Wrigley swallowed it right down. The best part is he slept all night so I did too. I hope this will work long term.

10. I have tried them for my Rottweiler, but she got wise
to them after the second time. I can't get pills down her no matter what I wrap them in. Peanut butter, cheese, hamburger, hot dogs. Nothing works. She eats the food and spits out the pill.
