So who else is sitting home right now, hot cup of coffee, wearing something comfy...
And thanking yourself for not wanting to get up at 3 - 4 am to stand in line in the cold and then get trampled once the doors open just for a cheap flat screen TV or laptop during these "BlacK Friday" sales where they only have about 10 of them?

Do the math...if there's only 10 or 20, you pull up and see 500 crazy people outside the store, go back home and go to bed.

1. I'm naturally awake during that time of the morning
because I work 3rd shift, and you still couldn't get me to stand out there in the cold and fight the crowds.

I did all of my Christmas shopping online this year. I think I'm going to make that a tradition. :)

2. You can't beat online shopping
It shows up right at your door or whoever you bought it for and most places have free or less than $5 shipping :hi:

I watched "World's Dumbest Shoppers" last night and it was very appropriately named. A grown man crying because he finally got an Elmo doll...:puke:

3. I'm relaxing right now.
Our T-day dinner is this evening and I'll be busy cooking in a bit. I never get into the madness of Black Friday, I worked enough of them in my younger years to not want to be around that many people trying to fight for a bargain.

My daughter and my DH went out yesterday for some Thanksgiving day sales and said it was pretty busy. My son called earlier this morning and he and his wife were out and about at Black Friday sales. They said some stores were really busy and others weren't so much.

4. I saw some cheap flat screens and laptops
But I guess there's no Elmo or Cabbage Patch type craze going on this year. The type of things adults are willing go to jail over so their over indulged kids can tell the whole neighborhood they got one and the rest of the neighborhood kids don't.

At least I guess that's why some parents do stuff like that

watching An Affair To Remember with my wife and a nice cup of coffee now.

29. The shamrocks?
What an unmitigated CF this has truly been. The shamrocks are 12 years old now, at least, and this past spring I put about 75% of it outside in flower beds. A few weeks ago I dug them up, potted them, and plunked them down in the living room so they could go through their arrrrgggghhhhh gaaaasp wheeeeeeze... we've been transplanted.... routine and then decide to just get over it.

Problem was, I used the dirt from the flower beds for the pots, and didn't think about the dirt being fertilized. So, the pots were in the window, I watered the things, it festered, it fermented, it is an unholy mess of the first order.

I'm on my way out now to get fresh clean potting soil and start all over again.

I get very emotionally attached to my plants. :loveya:

14. I bought some stuff yesterday - online.
No waiting, no lines, no crowds, didn't even have to put shoes on.

Most of the rest will be in real stores, but I know what I'm getting and where it is, so shopping won't take long.

15. I'm at home in something comfy,
drinking some water though. No way I'd ever go out to participate in that madness.

Plus it's rainy and cold... not the best shopping weather. I do love it though. :)

17. UPDATE!!! One fatality and a miscarriage
Worker dies at Long Island Wal-Mart after being trampled in Black Friday stampede

http://www.nydailynews.com/ny_local/2008/11/28/2008-11-28_worker_dies_at_long_island_walmart_after.html

No wonder people care so little about the war and there's no health care for millions.

Human life means less to people than a PS3 on sale these days.

21. OMG that's awful.
That poor man, goes to work and dies because a bunch of people think they're going to get a good deal and value a dollar over their fellow human being.

I wish they'd stop the door opening special sales like that. Either advertise at a sale price and have enough for most of the customers or don't bother. When it's costing employees their lives, people being injured etc., it's time to stop them.

18. I'm sitting at a Food Lion distribution center
trying to get rid of a trailer full of Juicy Juice. I drove by the Walmart in my little town around 6am. The police were out there directing traffic. The parking lot was completely full. I have never understood dealing with all of that garbage on Black Friday.

and hanging out at DU. Unfortunately, I'm supposed to be studying...

Shop away, idiots. I'm just going to relax in the warmth, and look out my window at a drizzly Washington day...

I didn't have the urge to go out and shop at 4 am.

I think the prices will be cheap enough all holiday season.
