Are there any subjects that you have a hard time discussing calmly?
There are some subjects that make me so emotionally upset that I can hardly type, much less remain calm. Gay rights, gay marriage especially, poverty, discrimination, equality. That kind of stuff is like nitroglycerin to my brain; one spark of perceived opposition, wishy-washyness, or non-support is enough to make me go off explosively.

So what blows your fuse in a hurry?

1. Child abuse or any form of mistreatment of children.
I completely blow a gasket. It's not pretty.

2. Potentially, none. It depends on whom I am discussing it with.
I have finally learned never to discuss religion on DU, for example, unless somebody is asking me a sincere question.

:hi:

3. yesterday i got into a discussion about gay marriage
with what i thought was an intelligent friend. he was for a ban on the subject and my wife had to call me out of the room to tell me that i was getting a little to loud in my telling him htat he was a moran. (i think i opened his eyes a little when i said that in the early 20th century, such a ban on the irish having any kind of civil rights would have passed handily)

4. Yes
Gazillion dollar bailouts for banks while stonewalling loans for the US auto industry.

Sometimes I feel as though the entire rest of the country just loves to pile on Michigan.

5. Here, here.
Our UAW workers are the last remnant of real manufacturing labor that America has. Screw the banks--help the workers.

9. Yes. Holding Bushie/Cheney/Rumsfeld/Rice accountable for lying us into
war.

People who refuse to acknowledge that the elections of 2000 and 2004 were stolen by disenfranchising voters.

Those are the two biggies for me right now.

I don't understand why people are opposed to gay rights, gay marriage, but I seem to just shake
my head rather than blowing a fuse.
