Is this the stupidest exercise machine ever?!
Behold: the SpeedFit, a mobile treadmill. It's a treadmill on wheels, that you can treadmill through the streets.

This might be one of the most ridiculous contraptions ever.

1. Please tell me this is a joke. Otherwise, there really is one born every minute.
Even if no one ever bought one, some idiot took the time to invent it. Unbelievable!

2. That is very strange. I wouldn't even want to run if I had to
cart that heavy thing around. An Engineering Professor I know had his class each work up a project for part of their final mark, one girl put a small motor on a bycicle. I don't know how much faster it went, but she still had to pedal .... there must have been more to it than I know of, because I remember he said she got high marks.

11. So what is the purpose of the treadmill?
You're outside, you're on the road, you're running.... what do you need a treadmill for? :wtf:

12. I dunno, looks like it's moving really fast. Would be pretty useful for commuting...
if you don't live far from work, or for picking up groceries if you could hook up a basket or a trailer to it. :)

Or put some seating over the belt and you have this:

Everyone could take turns powering it.

13. maybe if you want to simulate climbing hills in your flat neighborhood?
looks harder than walking and lower impact than running on pavement, and probably builds more strength... and it's faster than a Porsche!

Weird, but whatever!

15. Notice it says "men-powered".
Makes me want to get a few female friends, and a steam roller. Pay a visit to the guy.
Betcha he would get a good workout.

16. Kind of reminds me of the old railroad hand trucks
Same concept.

And with two people you probably get up a pretty good speed.

It's also got a bigger profile than a bicycle.

Interesting.

19. Yeah, they don't seem to understand that for the amount of energy needed
to make that huge thing, they could have designed a much smaller and more efficient standard car that would not put the horse at risk in a typical vehicle accident.

Why not just make it human-powered with pedals. With the right gearing, you could get up to a decent speed and still safely brake, steer, and not put anyone or anything else at risk but yourself and a passenger.
