Probably the best mash-up band I know of. Here's one of their best clips/cuts for the uninitiated:

EBN - Electronic Behaviour Control System

Similar bands that do sound-collage and are recommended are negativland and The Evolution Control Committee

Any other bands that do mashup and/or sound-collage y'all recommend? :)

1. Where do you think the "378" in my alias came from?
Negativland is also awesome. I have their first album on CD around here somewhere along with a recipe for cake and a SEAT BEE SATE button.

I hear things about this group called the Tape Beatles. Ring any bells with you?

3. Ah ha!
:)

Did you notice in that video that one of the people saying "Three Seven Eight" Is Ian McShane? He had a show called Lovejoy for a while. He was also in one of the Babylon 5 movies.

I've heard of the Tape Beattles but can't remember if I've heard them or not. There's probably something online somewhere.

Oh, what-d-ya know? I had a link for them and didn't even know it! :D

I turned a former co-worker on to negativland way back in 2000. She got so into them, that Mark Hosler became her boyfriend a few years back and they moved to Tennessee (or Kentucky...)

I've got one of the home-made albums covers around here for the first album, too. Love those wallpaper samples! ;)

4. Oh yeah! Forgot about that...
I miss the heydays of local Pacifica station KPFT when all my favorite shows played this kind of thing regularly. Many of them were banned from the station (myself included) during the "corporate-radio" years in the mid to late 1990s. I lost track with most of them and the kind of music I was constantly exposed to.

Well, I do know a few sites that offer downloadable music that sometimes falls into this category. Alternately, we have to search the web or the music stores...
