My 14 year old son made me very proud on Wednesday morning. He ran up to the attic...
...found the US flag...and hung out on home.

He's thrilled that he will get to vote in the next Presidential election for the re-election of Obama.

These kids give me hope and faith in the future. You've done well and should be very proud. :)

2. They will inherit the world. I continuously think of our responsibility to future
generations.

He was already prepared to vote, in my view. He was intimate with all of the election issues, more than many adults.

Peggy Noonan - why is this no surprise? - thinks we should raise the voting age. She is a dullard.

3. Ava, your son, my daughter Lelapin and ZombieNixon
and all the others give me reason to keep fighting the fight. They're compassionate, informed and passionate about what's right. I will gladly pass the baton when the time comes to this new generation.

:)

And yes, I think you should have to pass a test to vote. ;)

4. What a great American he is. I'm so happy for all the kids who get to be proud
of their President again. Really that is such a big deal.

21. I'll have to get back to you on that. I got mine from the old guy at the Lion's club.
He'd been trying to sell me a flag for years every year at Christmas time, but I always bought the chocolate covered nuts (even though I never buy the nuts over at E&E) or the cookie assortment.

But I called him after 9/11 for the flag and he got me one.

Somehow I don't think it's Chinese. It could be Guatamalan though.

I never pushed the voting button, punch card, or lever with as much force as I did on Tuesday morning.

9. I'm glad the new generation
is rising to the ocassion. They need to.

Everybody I know of my kid's generation voted.

When I was in NYC last spring I walked up and thanked every young person I saw holding a Hilary or Obama sign.

10. When Obama became President elect on Tuesday evening
my son asked if we could ring the big bell in our back yard, and we did. His dad made it, and we usually ring it on New Year's eve.
I think he was relieved to see that the system worked, after it had seemed tenuous for more than half of his life!
He'll turn eighteen 24 days before Tuesday, November 6, 2012.

11. He's about my boy's age. My wife and I were so optimistic about having children.
Bill Clinton was the President of the United States. Life was good.

I blame Bill for some of what happened, to be honest, though.

I think none of this would have happened without that business with the girl.

I retired the old one.

I just wanted a new flag for a new era.

16. We got ours after 9/11. It's a little soiled and roughed up. I like it that way.
It's sort of like the country.

I didn't fly it after the Republicans tried to appropriate it as an image for their war, but it's our flag now.

I loved Obama's logo, too. It was perfect, with it's flag and sunrise imagery superimposed on the "O."

15. That's so wonderful
Whenever anyone talks about how selfish and indulgent the current generation is, I think of the kids like your son or my daughter (who worked her butt off for Obama) or any of the many great, thoughtful, concerned kids I know. And I tell them they're wrong. :)

17. Hung my flag out on November 5th for the first time since 2001
I flew it after 9-11, but put it in mothballs as things unfolded. It felt good to put it up again.
