Shit, I missed my 8888th post
It happened a little while ago, and I totally missed it.

Oh, well, there's no real significance to 8888. It's not actually important like some multiple of 1,000.

Unless you're into astrology, then I'm sure 8888 has some kind of significance unfathomable to the minds of mere heathen idiots who don't understand the perfection of astrology and 900 number psychics.

4. Nah, celebrate whenever you want
Numerology has no cosmic significance unless, as I mentioned, one is easily duped into thinking that astrology and numerology, as offered by people who are willing to help you so long as you pay first with a credit card, rule your destiny and actually have effect on your life.

So, posts in multiples of 1,00 are significant only because it's an easy milestone, and worth celebrating. We use a base-10 system of numbers, and in the context of posting on a message board, every 1,000 posts is the right amount to celebrate. Anything less would be over-done, and anything more would be too rare.

I'm actually chuckling that you appreicate my ability to make the seemingly simple more complex.

Probably stems from being an engineer. I want things to be clear and understandable, but also accurate, and so sometimes I assume more math knowledge on the part of my listeners than is probably appropriate.

3. 8888 is the number
on which all others are based. Have you ever checked out a scoreboard at a baseball game? How about a digital watch? All numbers can be made from a square 8.

So you see, 8888 is a very important number indeed. It can stand for any number from 0000 to 9999!!

And you missed it! :(
