Single Girl Needs $3 Mil for Super Bowl Personal Ad
Edited on Sat Oct-25-08 04:38 PM by Truth Hurts A Lot

Forget dating sites, meeting through the comments sections, and set-ups -- a woman in New York is hoping that the same medium that brought the Budweiser Frogs fame will land her a man.

Amy Borowsky is attempting to raise $3 million via her Web site, SuperBowlSingleGirl.com, to buy a thirty-second ad spot during the Super Bowl, typically the most watched American broadcast event of the year. The product? Her hand in marriage.

We're tempted to say the ploy reeks of crazy. But since Amy's an ad exec and stand-up comic, we're guessing she knows the value of a prank ... not to mention a publicity stunt. She recently posed in a wedding veil in for a New York Post story about searching for Mr. Right where she gave her age as "somewhere between Carrie and Samantha."

1. Amy, tell you what, keep the $3 million in cash, and I'll marry you.
You get my hand, I get a Ferrari F430.

3. Why are some people so desperate to get married?
Or find a significant other? Just what is wrong with being alone?

I'll never understand the desperation.

4. I completely agree
I think having kids is one reason for women since men can reproduce at just about any age- there's a time limit women need to worry about. I never wanted kids so I was never desperately searching. If I did, at some point I would have found a sperm donor.

I think it's kind of sad to be that frantic. I figure if I meet someone I meet someone and if I don't then I don't. I refuse to settle and be unhappy. One of my coworkers said she "didn't want to die alone." Well dear, statistically speaking he's likely to die first so what's the point if you don't really want to be with him? Why spend that many years with someone if you don't really love them?

5. If she has the money, then by all means she should do what she wants with it.
I guess I don't get it because I am perfectly fine with not having kids. I am 40 and my boyfriend has had a vasectomy anyway so it isn't an issue for me.

It is hard to be alone, I do understand that, but settling for someone just to avoid being alone is not the answer either.

6. No she doesn't have the money.
The article says she is attempting to collect the money through her website.

8. Why are they "desperate" because they're proactive?
She may not raise that three million, but I'll bet she finds a great guy.

I met my husband through a personals ad. I'm sure that was "desperate", too. I wasn't meeting anyone at work, I was shy around the opposite sex, and my boss at the time had met her husband through an ad as well. I didn't want to spend the rest of my life alone, and at the rate things were going, I would have.

Those who have an easy time of meeting potential romantic partners are free to judge, but I'm featuring Amy tomorrow on my blog. I'll bet there's lots of others who will do the same. I hope she meets someone great as a result.

Julie
