So what does Obama spend on clothes
Edited on Wed Oct-22-08 05:08 PM by Juche
FTR, I do not mean to sound vain by asking this, but I was at KOS and saw a video clip from Fox News where the GOP pundits (aka journalists on Fox) were wondering what Obama spends on clothes since Palin is spending 150k of RNC money on clothes and about 13k a month in makeup.

http://www.dailykos.com/story/2008/10/22/83129/122/218/638468

I know Obama wears Burberry and Hart Schaffner Marx suits which go for $500-2000 each. I hope he uses his own money to buy them and not the donations he is given (since he is fairly wealthy at this point and I'd want my donations to go to GoTV and advertising, unless someone can give me a good explanation for buying clothes). He has also said he buys 5 suits and just patches them up.

Again, I realize this is a really, really superficial thread and feel bad posting it but feel that if anyone starts saying "I bet Obama spends 200k on clothes too" to deflect from the Palin issue (which they will) its best to actually be able to debunk that. Esp when you consider that a candidate spending 6 figures on clothes while the US is in the worst economic shape in decades and people go bankrupt due to not being able to pay medical expenses is not going to play well.

So I'm wagging Obama spent $3-7k on suits and assume he spent his own money. He has some decent suits though.

2. Make up artist, my mistake
http://voices.washingtonpost.com/the-trail/2008/10/22/palins_make-up_artist_adds_to.html

McCain's September payments of $8,672.55 to "American Idol" make-up artist Tifanie White, who has also worked on the reality dance show "So You Think You Can Dance," are a drop in the bucket on the campaign's beautification front compared to the costs incurred by the GOP vice presidential nominee.

The Sleuth has learned that Palin's high-paid traveling make-up artist is Amy Strozzi, who was nominated for an Emmy Award for her work as head of makeup on "So You Think You Can Dance." Strozzi was paid $13,200 by the McCain-Palin campaign last month alone, according to the campaign's latest financial disclosure report filed this week.
