Thats your winter predictor right there! (or at least it LOOKS like a woolly bear to me).

(I seriously worked with someone who did believe the amount of black on the wb catepiller could predict winter):D

2. I did! In fact, I nearly squished the poor thing!

I took the garbage out, and as I was returning I reached for the handle, stopping just in time to avoid a handful of mashed caterpillar. I grabbed the camera because I've lately spotted a few nifty creepy crawlies around the yard--House of Kewpie found a good-sized praying mantis a few days ago, and I found a weird (to me) spider with a white abdomen last week.

Quite a wilderness, these suburbs!

(and I never noticed the Marlboro brand on the door handle until I looked at the picture!)
