Six hours until vacation begins...

Six more hours until my vacation officially begins...

Giving only one person in my department my phone number so that she may call me in case there are fires to put out-- but I made her promise to lie to everyone that she doesn't have my number.

I hope she can take care of everything. I've held her hand the past month, and she's a pretty smart cookie. But there is that one anti-authoritarian (read: too lazy to keep up with changes) dude that, while I've learned to deal with, she may have some problems with. I suppose every office has that one co-worker who's anti-social for fun, and willfully disobedient for hobby-- thinks he's the smartest guy in the office, but everyone else knows he's really just kind of a joke. Bless his little heart :evilgrin:

But... my vacation! Nine full days of reading, relaxing, watching movies, and taking in the occasional episode of Rachel Ray. Waking up in the mornings, and having a mug of joe on the balcony without being rushed. Tonight's the big splurge though-- ordering a pizza after I get home, picking up a six-pack, and watching a butt-load of old black-and-white slapstick comedies (for those of you interested-- it's Cary Grant/Irene Dunne night-- The Awful Truth and My Favorite Wife).

A complete news blackout for me! Something I like to do every now and then. So if the economy goes in the crapper, or if a cop tasers someone, or if one of you goes to Olive Garden, I won't know about it, and will be in a blissful state of ignorance :)

Biggest plans of the week? Going to see the King Tut exhibit (cue Steve Martin), hitting the State Fair (cue cheesy Broadway show tune), and finally Octoberfest (cue Oompah music and dirty liederhosen). Sure, they're all in Dallas-- but you can't have everything go your way. Ohhh-- this years featured food at the fair? Deep Fried Bacon!

So try to have fun without me, my non-gender specific amiga/o's! And don't cry-- I'll be back soon, and with a reduced stress level, a collection of two or three hangovers, and penny-sized stuffed animal if I can ever get that damn ring around the bottle.
