Does anybody actually use speed volume control?

I just bought a (bitchin') 2006 Pontiac Grand Prix. One of the features is the "speed volume control". In a nutshell, it's configured so that as you drive faster, the volume of what you're listening to gets louder. I found it annoying to have to turn it down when I speed up and turn it up when I slow down, so I turned it off.

Does anybody use it? Is this really a great feature to have? Please advise.

bought my car almost six years ago. It didn't take me long to turn it off. It is very annoying.

4. I have mine on the lowest setting.

I only use it because my exhaust is quite audible in the car. Mine also isn't speed sensitive it's driving style sensitive. IOW, if I slowly, smoothly accelerate to 65 (yeah, right!) there's no change. But if I'm in 3rd gear and punch it to merge, there's quite a change.

12. It could be seen as a safety feature.

Cars are usually noisier on the highway then they are on the city streets, plus the surrounding noise from surrounding traffic, hence you might turn up the volume on the sound. But then, fucking around with the stereo when your hands should be on the wheel isn't technically safe.

On the other hand though, a lot of newer cars, especially the hybrids, should be running "quieter" anyway, so there shouldn't be that much difference in road noise between the highway and city.

8. It usually sucks (and I mean in the bad way)...

I was never able to find a setting that worked across the board. Ultimately, it was a hell of a lot easier to adjust the volume myself, as needed. And when the controls are often on the steering wheel anyway? What's the point????

9. There's a SVC button on my system ...

I clicked it a few times and it said OFF. It's been off since.

Look it up online - I've seen people ask about it and tips to do it.

I'm always adjusting the volume based on the wind noise when I'm driving.

My engine's pretty loud when I'm accelerating. Probably because I refuse to notice any speed between parked and warp nine.
