1. Here's my winner list...
Okay, OBVIOUSLY I'm a big "Lord of the Rings" fan! I personally think this trilogy has pushed the limit of what movies can be...I'm a huge fan, so this wins most of my choices.

Best Motion Picture-"Lord of the Rings: Return of the King" (See above)

Best Actor: Bill Murray for "Lost in Translation" (What can you say? An amazing performance by Murray...he is totally vindicated for "Stripes"!)

Best Actress: Charlize Theron in "Monster" (A SHATTERING performance...I cannot believe she pulled this off as intensely as she did...one of the great all time acting jobs!)

Best Supporting Actor: Tim Robbins in "Mystic River" (I personally thought Penn was overacting a bit...the real acting in this movie for me was Robbins...just his look conveyed so much PAIN...)

Best Direcotr: Peter Jackson "Lord of the Rings" (Since he hasn't won it for the 1st two, he certainly deserves it for this one)

Best Screenplay: Sofia Coppola "Lost in Translation" (A funny, poignant screenplay...I absolutely loved this movie!!!)

Best Adapted Screenplay: Frances Walsh et al "Lord of the Rings" (They all did a specacular job of cutting three books down to 12 hours or so counting the extended versions)

Best Cinematography: Master & Commander (Although I personally thought "Lost in Translation" had my favorite cinematography of the year).

Best Art Direction: "Lord of the Rings" (This movie has pushed forward what cinema can look like)

Best Costume Design: "Lord of the Rings" (See above)
Best Sound: "Lord of the Rings" (Not only for the newest, but the first two are my best sounding DVD's!!!)

Best Editing: "Lord of the Rings" (See above)

Best Sound Editing: "Master & Commander" (Beautiful sound)

Best Visual Effects: "Lord of the Rings" (Was there really any other choice???)

Best Makeup: "Lord of the Rings" (See above)

Original Song: "Into the West" from "Lord of the Rings" (A beautiful song from a beautiful score)

Original Score: "Lord of the Rings" (The score added to the tension and the beauty so well)

Best Short Animated Film: Didn't see any of these

Best Short Live Action: Didn't see any of these either

Best Short Documentary: See above

Best Documentary Features: "The Weather Underground" (An AWESOME documentary that was released by some folks that run the Maine Int'l Film Festival up here in Waterville Maine...a harrowing, intense film)

Best Foreign Language: Didn't see any of these

Best Animated Film: "Finding Nemo" (Enjoyed this WAY more than I thought I would...)

And there you have it!!!

9. Shohreh Aghdashloo might be the sleeper pick
It was a tough choice for me between her and Clarkson. I don't think Zellweger will win, even though she's the favorite.
