Do you clean your own house?
I just discovered that I'm practically the only woman I know who does. I asked a bunch of women I know professionally if they cleaned their own houses or if they could recommend someone who could come in twice a month and everyone has responded with a recommendation.

Who knew?

trust anyone else to be cleaning my house.

2. I do. But it's a disaster- the Red Cross is handing out coffee in my living room.
Once I have a little more money, I should look into hiring somebody to do the deep cleaning every week or two, because I have NO time.

I figure if I have someone twice a month to do the floors, kitchen, and bathroom I can keep up on the spot cleaning.

7. I can clean up after myself, just not my kid.
He's a champion mess maker, and not real good at cleaning up after himself. He can put the big stuff away and run the vacuum, and that's about it.

I really should consider hiring someone to come in once a month to do the stuff like floors and baseboards.

10. I love how so many MSM money-saving tips assume that people use maid services.
"Cut back on costs by having the maid visit only once or twice each week. The savings add up!"

Honesty compels me to admit that House of Kewpie does almost all of the major cleaning around the house, and she does a damn fine job of it. I help out where I can, but I'd be lying if I claimed that the split is 50:50.

Family has no time or patience to clean--I do believe my mother would let me starve before giving up the cleaning lady. :P

Seriously, though, even with a cleaning lady, our house still looks like a bomb went off in it. My father and I tend to be rather free and easy with our possessions. :D

37. Yes, I clean my house. I used to dream of being rich enough to have a cleaning service.
Now that I could probably afford a little extra help, I find that I just don't really want someone in my house. I would not feel comfortable having someone come in here to clean while I'm not home, and I couldn't imagine being here and just sitting on my fat ass while a maid did all the work!

However, I am thinking about having someone come in twice/year to do heavy cleaning, e.g., furniture moving, washing walls and woodwork, deep cleaning the carpets, washing windows inside and out, etc. I don't get to these chores very often, and they really need to be done.

40. We have two people
come in twice a month for 2 hrs each time. I was working so much OT this spring and summer that things weren't getting done.
These folks have worked for my next door neighbor for about the last 2 or so years. They've put Orange Glo stuff on the hardwood floors and they look great. And they take care of the kitchen and bathroom so I don't need to do too much in between.
I don't know if we will need to cut back to once a month (if they will accept that) - we had to have major plumbing work done last week and need to pay it off. Our house was built in the mid twenties and the whole system needed an overhaul. $ Ouch $

from a cleaning service. Their motto?

"Because life is too short to clean your own house!" Bizarre really.

I'm thinking about the people who work for them. Just what kind of lives do they have?

Mrs. T and I share and then go out for dinner on the savings.

When I say "share", she does most of the work, but I help when she wants it and pay for the dinner.

he didn't use to, so i didn't either. it was pretty bad.
finally decided that we bribe the kids to clean, we should bribe ourselves, too. hubby found the broom shortly thereafter.
we finally buckled down and made saturday cleaning day. he never works on saturdays, but i often do. so, he does more than me. the kids also tend to ignore him less than they do me.

sure want a cleaning lady, tho.
