Vests with suits, yes or no?
I own a pocketwatch and it seems to be the best way to wear it. What do y'all think?

1. A three-piece suit can be incredibly sharp.
Going coat-less with just the vest and trousers can be a very good look for a guy, too. But you really have to have the right body type for it. Tall and slender is best. I'm average height and very stocky, so vests don't look good on me.

The pocketwatch and chain is a terrific accessory. Go for it. B-)

2. Alas, we seem to have the same body type.
However, as my neck is very thick, I end up with shirts that are huge and tend to come untucked, when they just don't billow like a sail.

3. I use the watch pocket in my pants...
I always fear chains hanging from a vest will catch on something. I like the watch closer to my body with just a little loop exposed (I use leather rather than chain).

4. I end up only wearing the suit for church, or the occasional meeting requiring formal attire
But I understand your concern about the chain catching, although the only thing mine has ever caught on is my daughter's hand when she grabs it. (Gives a whole new meaning to "yank your chain")

5. I don't have a vest but I always liked the look,
whether it's on a tycoon or a cowboy.

6. Screw it, if you like the way you look and you feel good in a vest, wear it.
If you feel confident about the vest, it'll show.

7. Yes - if you're going to wear a vest, do it with a suit. Vests alone look silly as hell.

9. When you say vests, I assume you mean waistcoats.
Cos wearing a suit jacket over a vest would look really really stupid.

Especially a string vest.

Like this.

10. Yes, I believe waistcoat is the British term.
