2. It is during the week!
I don't mind that though, cause you KNOW you're fucked for the night. But, this waiting till 8:30 is a killer.

6. I'd rather work 'til 8:30.
At least in that case there is a little night left.

3. I've had that shift before
It really does suck because it's difficult to do anything before or after... either way it makes the workday seem very long.

11. For a minute I wondered if you worked over across the way from me...

Had to look at your profile to be sure!

I work 8 PM until 7 AM but do 4 days a week. I don't know if I would rather do 8 PM until 9 AM and have 4 days off or not. But the people over across the street from us (we work for competing companies but support the same client) do the 3 13s.

I don't suppose you work for the corporation that used to have Carly Fiorina as their CEO, do you? (I do, and they have offices in Atlanta...)

Edit: I do take calls, actually, but mostly monitor hardware tickets, run pointless reports, and wake CEs up in the middle of the night to go fix equipment.

13. OMG - another overnight cube jockey......
tell me you work FRI Sat Sun so we can keep each other entertained!

No i don't work for that one - I work for the Hotel industry, babysitting their gust internet networks. When i was a tech (like up until 2 weeks ago) i had done 5 8s (hated having just 2 days off) 4 10s (it's great if you have the right 4) and 3 13s (sucked cuz it was weekend day time) I would love a weekday am 3-13 shift. Not sure how i feel about the overnight yet. Still getting used to it.

2 questions I have for you:

1. Do you drift back to a daywalker schedule on your days off? And if so, how do you transition the day your shift starts?

2. Do you eat differently working overnights? Or do you eat Bfast, lunch, dinner like others do, but just at different hours?

I haven't worked overnights since I was in college - I found when i worked that second shift 5 8 (got off at midnight) i had started gaining weight - i think because I was eating too heavy just before going to bed. And now i haven't been feeling particularly hungry to eat in the middle of the night.

7. i loved that shift
worked it nearly every day for three years. it let me sleep in, which is great because i'm a night owl, but i still got off early enough to have some fun.

and i loved working later than everyone else because it gave me quiet time to work on projects and i hated most of my coworkers.

10. hehe I work 4:30pm to 1:30-2:00am. Fridays and Saturdays off.
But then again I work in a 24/7/365 environment.

I guess someone has to approve all them credit card charges...

Mark.
